Celebrating 35 Years of LGS

Thirty five years is a milestone. Since 1990, Leadership Greater Syracuse has invited people from across the 315 to step forward, learn together, and lead with purpose. The promise has always been simple: understand our community, build real relationships, and take responsibility for what comes next.

Impact grows when people decide to show up. LGS offers the context leaders need, introduces them to challenges and opportunities, and connects them with peers who care about this region. Then it encourages action.

Nearly 1,600 graduates have answered that call. They serve on boards, mentor students, launch ideas, and guide projects to results that matter. Their work appears in stronger neighborhoods, more resilient nonprofits, collaborative businesses, and better public policy. At the heart of it is ownership. See the problem, own the problem, and move.

The program is simple and effective. Participants learn how local systems work, visit places where decisions are made, listen to overlooked voices, and practice skills that build momentum. They finish with broader perspective, greater confidence, and a clearer sense of their place in the region.

This anniversary renews the commitment to practical, service minded leadership. LGS will continue to teach useful skills, build trusted networks, and guide people toward meaningful work in the community we share.

If you are a current or emerging leader, consider joining the next class. Bring your curiosity, your courage, and your commitment to Central New York. Thirty five years show that when people lead, good things follow. The next chapter is ready for you.
