Congratulations LGS Class of 2021

Leadership Greater Syracuse Announces the Graduation of its 31st Class

(November 17, 2021 – East Syracuse, New York) – Forty-two citizens are ready to take on high level community roles in Central New York as they are graduating from Leadership Greater Syracuse (LGS).  The LGS Class of 2021 will celebrated their graduation on Thursday, November 18th at Strada Mia in Syracuse.

City of Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh congratulated the graduates which then moved into a recap of the year ‘sung’ to the theme song from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. They honored their deceased class member, Mike Dunne and accepted their plaques through superlatives.

“The Board of Directors, staff and I are very proud of this class. They have been immersed in the issues and achievements of our community and now have the tools and the connections they need to give back to CNY,” said LGS Executive Director Pam Brunet.  The participants represent a cross-section of local businesses and non-profit organizations. “This co-hort started their journey virtually and were able to meet at bond in person as the year progressed,” said Brunet.

The Leadership Greater Syracuse flagship program is a year-long experience that immerses its participants in the challenges and the achievements of our community. “Participants are diverse in many ways, but what they have in common, is belief in CNY and willingness to do their part to make it better,” said Brunet.

“The future is bright for the organizations that will benefit from their knowledge and involvement as the LGS Class of 2021 is made up of very enthusiastic and capable leaders,” Brunet said. Approximately 80 percent of all the 1300 LGS graduates remain in CNY. A recent survey shows that they have held more than 800 volunteer positions.

Leadership Greater Syracuse was founded by Centerstate CEO, Onondaga County, the City of Syracuse and Onondaga Community College.  LGS is financially supported by many organizations including United Radio, Community Bank and VIP Structures.
