The Class of 2022 is All In
The 32nd class of the flagship program is off to the races. Their two-day opening retreat took place at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo where they had a special visit by a resident porcupine. At the retreat, participants learned about their leadership style and how to ‘dance the dance’ with differing styles. They started their community immersion by learning about our history and participating in a community SWOT analysis.
The first day designed by the class was Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Day and the theme of the day was Awareness|Application|Action. Honest and difficult conversations were had. Everyone was encouraged to “Be YOUnique.”
Immersion in the community really took hold at Education Day where the theme was “Learning to Live, Living to Learn.” From early childhood development to having the courage to make a career change, the class was inspired by all the speakers. A highlight was the tour of the OCM BOCES campus including the Innovation Tech High School.
Soon they will be off “Discovering CNY,” where there knowledge and relationships continue to grow. As they have said in a class day survey:
“I heard from other LGS grads how great LGS would be. They under sold it. It is even better.”
“I am electric with excitement. My classmates are awesome and inspiring. I can’t wait to learn more and be able to contribute to this AWESOME experience.”
