Volunteer Opportunities with the American Red Cross

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

There are volunteer openings including: Community Volunteer Leader (CVL) and board of directors.

The Community Volunteer Leaders work in partnership with the Executive Director to build capacity, enhance community presence and steward relationships. Activities include, but are not limited to, participating in community events, public speaking/media opportunities and advocating for volunteers and the needs of diverse communities. The individual should have a commitment to the mission of the Red Cross, be a creative self-starter, natural connector and able to successfully manage multiple tasks and priorities. There is no personal financial obligation to serve in this role.

Board members serve a three-year term and meet the 3rd Wednesday from 8am to 9am on odd months. Board members are requested to serve on a committee and make a $1,000 cash or in-kind equivalent donation annually.

Racial diversity across all volunteer roles is a priority.

Learn more about either of these roles by contacting American Red Cross Executive Director Lisa Smith at 315-382-1518, lisa.smith8@redcross.org
