Can You Advise on Legacy Giving?

The Upstate Foundation is looking for someone with experience in estate planning, financial advising or CPA who might be interested in joining its Legacy Giving Professional Advisory Council. This volunteer would serve an open-ended term and attend two council meetings (one hour each) a year. Each meeting would include Foundation related business and a featured speaker from the Upstate Medical University community presenting on a topic to help council members learn more about the impact Upstate has on our region. Persons of color on this committee are needed.

Council members serve in an advisory committee to Foundation Director of Planning Giving (LGS grad Carolyn Hendrickson) for advice on estate planning topics. Council members may also be called upon to submit articles related to estate planning for publications produced for donors of the Upstate Foundation. Donor referrals to and from the council member and Foundation are anticipated. Additional opportunities to present on legacy giving topics to Upstate Foundation donors is also available.

There is no requirement of council members to financially support the programs/events of the Foundation, but opportunities to do so are offered. This includes participating in one of the Foundation’s signature events such as Gala, Radiothon, golf open or donating to any of the Foundation’s 1,000 funds.

If you are interested in learning more, contact Carolyn Hendrickson at 315-464-6490 hendricC@upstate.edu. Current council members can be seen here: https://www.upstatefoundation.org/LegacyGiving
