“Best Class Ever” Fundraising Campaign a Huge Success

Who knew how competitive people could be?

Just prior to Giving Tuesday, LGS threw out a challenge: whichever class could raise $1,000 first, would be named “The Best Class Ever.”

“I was blown away by the response,” said LGS Executive Director Pam Brunet. “We know we have happy ‘customers’ and we know they value their experience. We also know they understand the relevance and importance of our mission in our community.” The ‘many hands make light work’ philosophy played out in this campaign.

Tuition in the flagship program covers about 60 percent of the overall expenses for LGS which leaves a just over $100,000 to fund raise. “We are very grateful for our government support and corporate sponsors, but fund raising professionals know that individual giving is where the real money comes into play,” said Brunet.

Within 45 minutes of launching the campaign, the LGS Class of 2016 raised $1000 (and kept going eventually reaching $1,525). The Class of 2016 is “The Best Class Ever.” CONGRATULATIONS!

But, joining in on the competitive spirit, other classes were not to be outdone. “There was a flurry of activity among classes as they wanted to compete to see which class could raise the most,” said Brunet. The Class of 2015 raised the most amount of money, donating $2,900 and the Class of 2013 rounded out the top three by raising $1,605!

Twenty-five of 31 classes raised a total of $15,004! “This is three times more than has ever been raised by the alumni,” said Brunet. The average donation is $77. “The staff and board are so very grateful for this generosity,” said Brunet. COVID impacted the organization as LGS needed to accept a smaller class in 2021 which meant a $38,000 loss in tuition. “The funds donated by our alumni, significantly impact our ability to continue to meet our mission,” she added.

“From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every LGS grad who made a gift toward this campaign,” said Brunet. “We are inspired by YOU and we can’t wait to launch our 32nd class.”
