The Flagship Program
Thank you for your interest in the Leadership Greater Syracuse flagship program! For 30 years we have been inspiring people to make a difference in the community. The knowledge and the connections fostered through our year-long experience will last you a lifetime.
If you believe in our community and want to do your part to make it even better, you are qualified to be in LGS!
If you are an individual/employer who wants to take an active role and become part of a network of engaged community leaders, then the LGS flagship program is for you. Whether you are new in your career, looking to advance your career, want to give back to the community, or are trying to figure out what to do in retirement, you will be inspired by the LGS experience.
The life-long skills acquired through LGS can be applied at home, at work and in the community. Participants enhance their own leadership style and become aware of the leadership styles of others. Graduates of the LGS flagship program are far more valuable to their companies and to the organizations in which they volunteer. They become better listeners, better collaborators and better communicators. LGSers have the knowledge and the courage to lead change.
By completing the application for our year-long experience, you are taking a giant step toward building your personal and professional skills and strengthening our community.
Final candidates are selected through an inclusive process that creates a class reflective of the CNY community. This includes: gender, age, race/ethnicity, physical ability, profession, business sector, and community involvement.
The application can take 20-30 minutes to complete and you will have the opportunity to save and return to the application. As part of the application, you will need to include the email address of your supervisor so that LGS can be assured that he/she is aware of the time commitment and cost, should you be accepted into the program.
The deadline to complete the application for the Class of 2021 is noon, Monday, September 14th, 2020. As a part of this application process, candidates will be asked to pay a $30 application fee.
All applicants will be contacted each Fall to schedule a 30-minute interview.
LGS participation requires a time commitment of a two-day overnight retreat in January followed by 10 monthly, full day classes (8 a.m. – 5 p.m., typically the second Wednesday of the month). The class day schedule is provided at the interview. Each class member will also help plan two class days during the year which requires additional meeting time. These meeting times will be set based on team member schedules.
If a participant misses more than 16 hours of class time, they will be excused from the program.
If selected, tuition of $3,800, is due January 31 2021. If you need a payment plan or need to pay during the year of participation, please indicate this on the application. Tuition assistance is available and can be requested as part of the application process.
Should you have any questions, please call us at 315-422-5471. Thank you for your application.
The goal of LGS is to offer in-person training. The organization will follow all county and state regulations and a hybrid in-person and virtual experience will be available in 2021. The opening retreat in 2021 will not be an overnight experience.
We can’t wait to meet you!
