Support Local Music by Joining the Syracuse Sounds of Music Association Board
The mission of Syracuse Sounds of Music Association (SSMA) is to support music organizations and music education in CNY. The association holds fundraising activities (including Encore Thrift Shop in Fayetteville, NY) where proceeds go toward grant funding to CNY not for profit organizations that offer music programming and music education or community support through music. Funds are also allocated toward a major sponsorship to our orchestra of CNY- Symphoria.
The SSMA board is currently seeking new board members who will serve a three-year term. The board meets the 2nd Monday of every month for 1-1.5 hours at The Dewitt Town Hall. (If you need to leave, you may any time.) Board members are expected to join a committee of interest which requires time outside of monthly meetings. The Encore shop is run completely by volunteers, and board members are asked to fill a 2 ½ hr. shift twice a month. Everyone says this is fun!
Board members are required to pay annual membership dues of $40 per year.
At this time, SSMA is looking for individuals with leadership skills and who enjoy purposeful fundraising and marketing the SSMA mission that music matters.
